Stormwater / Development Engineer

Butler County Stormwater District

Full-Time, Permanent, Salary, Non-Exempt, Classified

Salary Range $55,000 - $75,000

Statement of Job:

Review residential and commercial construction documents for compliance with County Standards

Accountability:

Reports to the Development Services / Storm Water Manager

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management or closely related field strongly preferred.  Years of experience performing similar functions may be substituted for Bachelor's Degree.

Must have a valid State of Ohio driver’s license with less than six points.

Ability to read and interpret site plans, building plans, specifications, calculations to determine compliance. The incumbent is required to utilize a variety of technical information and knowledge in completing work assignments including NPDES standards.

Physical Requirements:

The Incumbent must be able to lift manhole lids, storm sewer grates, and negotiate various terrains through construction sites, creeks, streams, rivers, and stormwater features for field reviews, inspections, and outfall monitoring. The employee must be able to wear safety equipment as required by OSHA, BCEO, and District safety policy

Essential Functions

Must meet the physical requirements and be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation:

Must be able to communicate well and work well with others and cooperate with residents of Butler County, Developers and their employees, contractors and their employees, vendors, customers and other employees of Butler County.

Review commercial site plans, subdivision drawings, subdivision plats, hydrologic and hydraulic models, drainage reports, and other documents for compliance with County design standards

Assist Inspectors in their use of Access Management, Permits (driveway & right-of-way) and Sediment & Erosion Control Permitting.

Skills & Knowledge:

Principles and practices of civil engineering and surveying.

Basic understanding of residential & commercial development, and floodplain management.

Communicating clearly both orally and in writing.

Knowledge of software programs and databases.
